Valentine's Card Art Project

Our Art Committee met again after school on Wednesday to continue working on Valentine’s Day cards for the Institute for Human Services (IHS). The students understand that these cards will be shared with individuals experiencing homelessness and going through difficult times. They are creating thoughtful, colorful, and cheerful cards to brighten someone’s day and remind them that others care.

We are so grateful to these Student Council members for sharing their time, creativity, and talents to spread kindness and show our ʻIke values of Caring and Citizenship in action!

Class Visit Preparation

 At our lunch meetings this week, we began preparing for our first classroom visits later this month! After Mari shared a couple of sample scripts, our student Council Representatives partnered up to practice and prepare their speeches. We’re excited to see them build their confidence and develop their leadership skills as they get ready to share with their classmates. Check out some photos of our third graders hard at work!

National Custodian's Day

Before our fall break, we took time to recognize and thank our hard-working custodians for all they do to keep our campus clean, safe, and beautiful for everyone to enjoy. A big mahalo to Kayla and Andi for leading this special appreciation project! They created a thoughtful poster signed by our Student Council members and wrote and delivered a heartfelt speech to express our gratitude. We appreciate our custodians and all they do to make ʻIke a wonderful place to learn and grow!

 

Art Committee Meeting

 At our first Art Committee meeting, our students began working on Valentine’s Day cards for clients of the Institute for Human Services. Our students understand that these cards will be shared with individuals who may be experiencing difficult circumstances and do not have a home of their own.

They put a great deal of time, care, and thought into creating beautiful and heartfelt cards. We hope these small acts of kindness will bring a smile and a little encouragement to the recipients. We are proud of our students for putting our values of Caring and Citizenship into action!

First Quarter 'Ike Pride Assembly

On Wednesday, September 30, our Student Council Officers led their first ʻIke Pride Assembly of the school year. We appreciate the time and effort they put into practicing in the weeks leading up to the assembly, while also balancing their many other Student Council responsibilities. We are proud of the leadership they demonstrated and the wonderful job they did representing our Student Council!

Custodian Project

Kayla and Andi took the lead on our Custodial Appreciation project. They designed and created a special poster for our custodians and had all of our Student Council members sign it. They also wrote and practiced a thoughtful speech to share their appreciation for the important work our custodians do each day. We are proud of Kayla and Andi for showing leadership, initiative, and gratitude through this special project!

Mililani High School Quarterly Lunch

 On Friday, September 11, Mari joined Mrs. Ajifu at the Mililani High School quarterly community lunch. The meal was prepared by Mililani High School’s talented culinary students, and Mari had the opportunity to share an update about Mililani ʻIke, highlighting some of the exciting things happening at our school during the first quarter.

This quarterly gathering brings together representatives from our Mililani Complex schools, community organizations, and local businesses, providing an opportunity to connect and share what is happening throughout our community.

A big mahalo to Mari for representing Mililani ʻIke and doing such a wonderful job sharing all that is happening at our school! We are proud of you, Mari!

IHS Collection

 On Thursday, September 24, our school hosted a collection drive to support the Institute for Human Services. This year, we collected pillows, towels, sheets, laundry detergent, and dishwashing soap.

A big mahalo to the Student Council members who joined us and did such a wonderful job collecting donations and thanking our families for their generosity. We are so proud of the students for putting our Caring and Citizenship values into action!

Special thanks to Mrs. Matsumoto for joining us and helping keep everything organized. We appreciate everyone who contributed to making this collection a success!

Homecoming Parade

 On Saturday, September 19, we proudly marched alongside other schools and community members in the Mililani High School Homecoming Parade. This annual event brings our community together, and we are always proud to be a part of this special tradition.

A big mahalo to everyone who joined us and to all of those who cheered us on along the parade route! We appreciate your support and love seeing our ʻIke and Mililani Pride on display throughout the community!

Fifth Grade Student Council Members

 Our fifth graders held their first grade-level lunch meeting on Tuesday, September 15. We are excited to welcome five new faces from fifth grade to Student Council this year! During our meeting, we spent some time getting to know one another and began preparing for the upcoming MHS Homecoming Parade and IHS Collection Drive. We’re looking forward to a great year of service and leadership with this group!

Fourth Grade Student Council Members

 On Monday, September 14, we met for the first time with our 4th grade Class Representatives and two of our Student Council Officers. We have a wonderful mix of experienced members, including several students who participated in Student Council last year, along with a couple new members who will bring fresh ideas and new perspectives to the group. We’re excited to see all that this team will accomplish together!

Third Grade Class Representatives

Meet our 3rd Grade Student Council Representatives!

Congratulations to Caleb, Jaxson, Bennett, Aria, Kinsley, and Autumn, who were selected to represent their classes on Student Council!

We appreciate these students for stepping up to take on a leadership role and for their willingness to serve their classmates, school, and community. We are excited to see all they will accomplish this year! 💚

Project Leaders

 A big thank you to Kayla and Andi for taking on the role of Project Leaders in addition to their Classroom Representative responsibilities! As second-year Student Council members, they will be leading groups of students in many of our art projects throughout the school year.

They are already hard at work creating a special Custodian Appreciation poster for National Custodian Day in October. We appreciate Kayla and Andi for sharing their creativity, leadership, and artistic talents with our Student Council!

Complex Officer Training

On Thursday, August 20, our Student Council Officers—Luke, Colin, Aiden, and Mari—attended the Mililani Complex Leadership Training at Mililani Waena Elementary School.

The training was designed to prepare our young leaders for their leadership roles and responsibilities at ‘Ike this school year. Mililani High School student leaders planned a fun and inspiring day filled with engaging activities and meaningful lessons for elementary and middle school student leaders.

Our students had the opportunity to make new friends from schools throughout the Mililani complex and reconnect with former ‘Ike students who are now attending middle and high school. We are excited to see how they will use what they learned to make a positive difference at our school this year!

Thank you to a Community Member

A generous community member recently made a donation to our school PTO. To express our appreciation, the PTO prepared a thank-you note and requested a special piece of student artwork to accompany it. Kayla volunteered without hesitation and created this beautiful artwork.
